i just spent a few days with my dad.
i asked a few questions about the time when mum became a witness which i know is still, 38 years later, a painful thing for him to talk about.
in the course of it, he also learned some stuff that he did not know about the pressures of the times.. as i expected, mum and dad have different versions of this time, and it is pretty hard to find the real truth in it and in some ways it does not matter anymore.. mums version: she first was contacted in echuca late 1960s and dad put a stop to it.

I came in the religion in 1979 at 18 years old.
Even then I felt that something was not right, it reminded me of walking on thin ice when everyone else was telling me that it was really secure.

the daily text for today is a good way to show dubs that you talk to that everyone except jehovah's witnesses will be destroyed.
i have found that when i do get a chance to say something to a dub about this they usually say "we don't judge so we can't say who will be destroyed" the borg was kind enough to put it in writing for me:.

something i have not heard before on this board is waiting in the car out in service or any of the woman who were elders wives waiting on their husbands while in an elders meeting.. i was 24 years old when i got married to an older man he was 41 and had been an elder for about 12 years.
i truly loved my husband when we got married.
i truly loved him like crazy.
The flip side :
My wife and DA' ed ourselves, and two weeks ago an elder came to our door and talked to us for over an hour (it did no good for him just
reiterated the reasons why we left)
After the hour he said, "well I have to go, I have a carload of the friends waiting for me"
he made no mention of that throughout the visit, but on the bright side, there was a carload of witnesses that did nothing for over an hour !
hi all, new posting, but i've been lurking for a while.
i thought it was time to "come out" as it were and voice my story.... i was born into the jw cult surrounded by all of my jw family.
grandfather was an elder for almost 40 years till he passed, both of my uncles are currently now elders and have been for the last 15 years.

he called at 8:44 a.m. to invite me to the meeting.
the meeting starts at 10:00 a.m. if i did decide to go he didn't give me much notice to get ready.
but i guess that doesn't matter.
my wife and I da'ed ourselves 1.5 years ago, and the elders just did a drive by last Saturday.
The thing that irritated me was that they sent a new, young, know-it all kid/elder to visit us with no advance call.
Listening to this guy gush facts, and jw falacies just cemented even more why I left the witnesses in the first place.
well after fading and keeping a low key i think the elders are finally going to get to me.
in 2007 i moved to another city but quickly moved back home about two months later.
the whole time everyone from my old congregation has been thinking i've been in another city.

I heard that they cannot spray when this young
witnesses are supposed to be "exemplary" and not like the "world".
yet some jws are pretty notorious.. did you know of any jws that did some real bad things?.
i knew a pious witness who got caught twice trying to solicit prostitutes.
the worst experience I had was when I went out one evening with the PO's two sons.
I still was not baptized, (17 yrs old) my dad was studying with their parents.
We drank big time, smoked some pot, went over to one of their friends house and watched some really bad porn
The we all went home, got dressed, and went to the meeting, one of these guys actually gave a talk that night.
This day is still burning in my mind,,,, what a bunch of hypocrites they/we were.
